Composer Siobhan Lamb’s latest work for The Suoni Ensemble is modern version of H.C. Andersen’s “The Red Shoes.” A musical retelling of the classic story deals with temptation, vanity and the individual. Written for flute, trumpet, cello, harp percussion and tap dancer.

An opportunity to tell the story of the Red Shoes without using any words. Siobhan also explored different ways of presenting the music with the musicians moving around and interacting physically and dramatically with the dancer as well as musically. Dacapo is releasing this later on in the year.

The world premiere in June 2016 featured world-reknown percussionist Marylin Mazur and dancer Sindre Postholm, fresh from his acclaimed performance in Top Hat at Malmö Opera.

It has been performed to thousands of Danish Children at the Danish Radio to educate and introduce their ear to musical themes in a narrative context.
